Sri Mahalakshmi
Sharada Educational Trust
Sri A.N. Gangadhara Shastry
thought of doing something good to
society for the remembrance of his mother Smt. Mahalakshmamma and her
inspiring personality. The lone asset he had was a house and some
space associated with it. He decided to
utilize the part of his asset to nourish blind and poor orphan
children with food, shelter, clothes and education. He then
founded Sri Mahalakshmi Sharada Educational Trust.
A Temple to Sri Siddhi Vinayaka
In
1982 the temple was constructed to Sri Siddhi Vinayaka within the premises
of Sri Gangadhara Shastry's house. Even though in small scale, the work
started and the trust gained its shape.
To
create the awareness of moral and life values to the children of the
current generation the trust began to teach "Vishnu Sahasranama",
"Bhajans", "Sthotras" to children during morning hours
in the temple.
Birth of Sri Vidhya Ganapathi Prakashana
The
above mentioned welfare activities caught the attention of people
around. Many got attracted towards Dharmic events held at temple.
Their interest in these Dharmic events made them to search for books
which could give them knowledge and comprehensive insight of Shlokas,
Bhajans and Puranas.
Many of
the books that were available in the market had spelling grammar and language
mistakes. Devotees expressed their idea of publishing books
from temple itself. As an approach to fulfill their desire,
"Sri Vishnu Sahasranama" was published in 1991 and it became very famous. The
overwhelming response towards this first publication showed a great need of
such books at affordable prices for the general public.
To cater
the needs of these kind of books, the Trust and Temple committee decided to
start a pubilcation wing and publish the books under the banner "Sri Vidhya Ganapathi Prakashana".
